The Ventures Legacy Lives On

The Ventures Legacy Lives On

Today is indeed a sad day for all the teenager boys of yesteryear who grew up with The Ventures music. Bob Bogle, one of the two founding members of the group passed away yesterday on June 14, 2009. For those of you who might not immediately recognize the name, I’m sure you will recognize them for their surf music and the instrumental hit that made them famous – “Walk Don’t Run”. They are also easily recognized for their later hit – “Hawaii 50”.

Here is a video featuring Bob Bogle featuring one of his medleys:

Many guitarists like George Harrison (The Beatles), John Fogerty (Credence Clearwater Revival), Carl Wilson (the Beach Boys), Jeff Cook (Alabama), Keith Moon (The Who) and many more were influenced by The Ventures music. I have to add one other person to the list, myself. The first time I heard “Walk Don’t Run”, I knew I had to have a guitar. I saved up my money, bought a guitar, purchased their albums which I still have and continue to play music today. I would say they were a huge influence on me.

For their success as the number one instrumental group, The Ventures were recognized and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10, 2008. The Ventures have been making music for the last fifty years and their legacy will continue to live on. Bob Bogle will be missed.

Absorption Rates are established by how many properties have sold during a given period of time (e.g., 365, 180, 90 and 30 days). Absorption rates also allow tracking trends in the market for any given number of days, weeks or months. These trends can indicate whether we may be in a Sellers Market, a Neutral Market or a Buyers Market. A monthly absorption rate of 5-6 is usually considered a Neutral Market. Anything below five is regarded as a Sellers Market and anything above six a Buyers Market.

  • Sellers Market                         1-4 Months Supply
  • Neutral Market                        5-6 Months Supply
  • Buyers Market                            7 Plus Months Supply

The following tables reflect the Monthly Absorption Rates* for respective Zoning Districts in Prince William County ending on April 30, 2009:
